I went to the Hill tonight for no other reason than I wanted to.
I had it all to myself & had a lovely half hour appreciating how things are growing.
I picked a good handful of baby broad bean pods - no bigger than 3" long - the first vegetables of the new season!
I brought them straight home to eat with quiche, in a salad, lightly cooked & tossed with balsamic vinegar & extra virgin olive oil.
Yum!
Well done that woman! Mine are still in flower.
ReplyDeleteHad my first Goldensweet mangetout yesterday though, but only a slack handful between two of us.
Yum, yum! Makes all your hard work seem worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteThis will be the first wonderful meal of many during the coming months.
Hmmm see now I'm wishing I'd actually got round to sowing some broad beans after all... lol ;)
ReplyDeleteBet they tasted lovely! :)
Wow.. Mine are not even in flower yet. They seem to be on ago slow this year or maybe I'm too impatient

Jody, that is terrible news. :( Barry was the first to welcome me to the Hill - and I was only talking to him a couple of weekends ago.
ReplyDeleteI'll be at the Hill in the morning maybe I'll see you then.
Fantastic! I am weeks behind you, mine are still just in flower. Hope you enjoyed those, picked at a perfect size!
ReplyDeleteyeah gutted, I started out helping on Barrys plot, he taught me a lot!! I was with him on the sunday, he seemed fine (or as fine as he ever was anyway). His wife came down on saturday, she was ok but a little upset, poor lionel had a cry with her, was very sad.
ReplyDeleteIm going to attend the funeral, im sure a few from around us will be there.
see you soon
