Today it is the shortest day of the year, a second shorter than yesterday, and five seconds shorter than it will be tomorrow.
I know that it will still be damp/dark/cold/miserable/wintery for a while to come, and you won't notice any difference in the day length for ages, but even so - it's all good from here on in.
Roll on Spring.
Are you going to "do a Flummery" and start seed sowing next month?
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas from said early sower. I only do it with chillies and a very few tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteI finally started to notice the light changing this week when I realised the mass starling swirls that occur here at sunset were carrying on after 4 o'clock, yay, lighter nights gradually creeping back.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you might add your allotment to Folia the online gardening website (it's free). I'm always looking to encourage more gardeners to join and am having an extra push this week while the weather is keeping most people indoors.
It's a great resource for gardeners and has helped me keep on top of my 800+ plantings with photo's, notes, journals, milestones etc. They have an extensive plant wiki and a seed stash section where people can also list seeds for swapping. Here's the link to my Folia page so you can see how it works: www.myfolia.com/gardener/CDfolia/invite.
