Welcome to our plot!

I'm Hazel, and in Nov 2006 my friend Jane and I took on a half plot at Hill Allotments, Sutton Coldfield - we want the satisfaction of growing and eating our own fruit and veg, and to improve our diet (and fitness!).

This is the story of what happened next...........

Rain!

To say 'it's been raining today' would be somewhat of an understatement. It has been real Noah's Ark weather, & I have spent a great deal of time running around emptying seed trays whenever the various bean & pea seedlings looked to be in danger of drowning.

I'm sure that the plants at the Hill are lovin' it, though, & should the rain forecast for tomorrow let up a little, I will go and see for myself.

At least this has meant that I haven't had to water the hanging baskets (a chore if ever I saw one), & in fact I am rather pleased with the way the four of them are coming on - all the flowers I have grown from seed that I'd swapped/been given, & last year the planted-up baskets cost £12.99 each from the garden centre, so this has been well worth doing!

  1. Please send some of the H2O up here, we've had a couple of showers but nothing like the amount the garden needs.

  2. We've had hurricane winds but no rain at all. The spuds are crying out for a good soaking!

  3. I didn't mean to pinch your rain, girls - honestly, I would have shared it around if I could!

Steady rain till mid afternoon again today - apparently well over an inch yesterday, and I think about the same today.
