Welcome to our plot!

I'm Hazel, and in Nov 2006 my friend Jane and I took on a half plot at Hill Allotments, Sutton Coldfield - we want the satisfaction of growing and eating our own fruit and veg, and to improve our diet (and fitness!).

This is the story of what happened next...........

Making the Most of...

...tomatoes!

I put my pinny on tonight & got a big pan out to 'do something' with all the tomatoes that have been gradually ripening on the six remaining tomato plants that are in the courtyard garden.

I heated up some oil and chopped a couple of celery sticks, some garlic cloves, red onions & a large courgette.

Then I picked six delightfully shiny PEPPERS (mini bell) from the mini greenhouse chopped and deseed them & then skinned a the big bowl of tomatoes & added them in too.

Half an hour & a pinch of basil & thyme later I had the most delightful, sweet ratatouille ever!

  2. I've had my fair share of blight too, as you well know!

Actually, with about 20 plants at the Hill, if they hadn't been ruined by blight, I'd be knee deep in tomatoes by now, but as Flum rightly says, you can't have too many!
