Nipped to the Hill late afternoon on my way to a meeting with a colleague - I was going to take him some FRENCH BEANS (purple giant), but there weren't really enough, so I picked just a few for me along with some RUNNER BEANS (essex bb & reg-next plot) & FRENCH BEANS (barlotti jody & early warwick) along with a couple of COURGETTE (golden yellow & all green bush).
I didn't go to my meeting empty handed, though, I took John-the-accountant a beautiful bright orange SQUASH (red kuri). The fruit are plentiful - about eight good sized ones on each of the two plants - & are about 8" in diameter.
I didn't have a bag with me so it did form rather a conversation piece as it sat on the table between us...
Aren't those red Kuri squashes the best. We inherited ours (they were in the garden when we came here) but I keep seeds every year and grow about 4 plants. they make a brilliant curried pumpkin and sweetcorn soup.
